THE BIG FUNK COMPANY
The BIG FUNK COMPANY was founded in 2011 in Paris,
by Julie DELAURENTI, Tiffany HOFSTETTER
and Clarence TOKLEY.
BFC’s intent is to bring American theater to France, and to present multilingual productions (theater and film) to the French and English-speaking community.
THE BIG FUNK COMPANY was created after a Bilingual Acting Workshop production in Paris of THE BIG FUNK by John Patrick Shanley, directed by Sei Shiomi. Since then BFC has been developing its most recent play IN MY OTHER LIFE, a new, never-before-seen John Patrick Shanley ensemble of five short plays, all connected through the same theme: Choices.
BFC’s creator and Artistic Director Julie DELAURENTI had the privilege of working with John Patrick Shanley as his assistant director on his Off Broadway play STOREFRONT CHURCH, at the Atlantic Theater in 2012. Since then Mr. Shanley has given to her his most recent work, a compilation of five short plays, all interlinked with each other to form the one act play IN MY OTHER LIFE. With Mr. Shanley’s blessing and support, BFC has created a platform on which to introduce its vision and approach to theater.
IN MY OTHER LIFE has been produced in Paris and in Avignon.
Now BFC has established a collaboration with The ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATRE and hie youngblood Program to organize
their "AMERICAN SUNDAYS", every 2 months. Five one acts along with a brunch. BFC is also organizing their "AMERICAN FRIDAYS", which are play readings with wine.
They are actually looking for their next production play.
